Long Description A spectacular Art Deco chryselephantine figure group titled "Tender Promises" (Circa 1925), originally modeled by the master of the Art Deco era, Demetre H. Chiparus (Romanian, 1886–1947).

This magnificent sculpture is a dynamic composition of cold-painted and parcel-silvered bronze and intricately hand-carved ivory (chryselephantine), set on a striking, stepped marble and onyx base. The figure group depicts a dramatic, intimate moment: a kneeling Pierrot figure, distinguished by his silver and gold trousers, leans in to whisper a promise to his seated Pierette, who is draped in a metallic blue dress.

Attribution and Marks: The sculpture is signed "Chiparus" on the base and bears the esteemed Etling Paris foundry mark, which is characteristic of the finest Chiparus sculptures produced during the 1920s.
